New House

We have found our new house and are moved in! Well, kind of. All of our furniture is still in St. Louis but we are officially in our new house. We went back and forth about buying versus renting but decided to rent for now so we are not adding even more to our plate. Renting allowed us to get into a place much more quickly too. And here we are! Now when Drew gets leave we can head back to St. Louis and get our stuff. Drew is still in in-processing right now but will hopefully report to his new unit by Friday. Once he is there he will learn more about his leave. Here's a picture of our new house. It's a cute 3 bed/2 bath with a great fenced in yard for the dogs that backs up to trees and a little lake. The neighborhood also has a pool which, as many of you know, was a selling point! :) We are right in between base and Savannah, with Savannah being about 20 minutes away. We are only about 5 minutes from water though which is fun. Now we are getting excited to move in all of our furniture. Right now we are basically camping in our new house. :)

Playing Tourists

This weekend Drew and I took in all of the sites just as if we were tourists! We visited the area we are interested in living in on Friday which is called Richmond Hill. It's a cute small town in between base and Savannah. We found a fun bar that is just our style on Friday. It had live music, cold beer, and good food. What more could you ask for? :) On Saturday we went to Tybee Island which is the beach. It was so fun! We laid out, swam in the ocean, had a picnic and walked the beach. It was perfect. On the way home we went to Savannah and tried a few of the restaurants just having an appetizer at each. We even saw a dolphin! Today we went to Fort McCallister where we hiked through the marsh and found a small town marina. We are having the best time hanging out and exploring our new town. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the realtor to view the house we want. I quickly learned that realtors do not work weekends or after 5. It was kind of shocking but the South is definitely laid back! I will keep you posted on how the house hunting goes. We are hoping to have something rented as soon as tomorrow or within the beginning of this week. As we see these different spots we keep saying how exciting it will be for our family and friends to come visit. The door is always open!!

Coast to Coast

Today I will be joining Drew in Savannah!! Last night I got back from California and right now I'm getting on the plane to see Drew. I have traveled cross country in less than 24 hours! But I am so excited to see Drew. He will be in orientation for about another week and will then check in with his new unit. After that we are hoping for leave when we will come home and move all of our stuff. We want to find a house before we come home so we can move right in when we get back. Drew and I will be able to see each other every night now!! We have been waiting for this for almost 7 months now!! YAY!!!! I'll let you know how the house hunting goes and give you a Savannah report once we get settled. :)

Fort Stewart, GA

We are moving to Fort Stewart just outside of Savannah, GA!!!! We are really happy!!!! Between the beach and the fishing how could we not be?!?! This is not an airborne unit but Drew plans to volunteer and tryout for smaller groups within his infantry division. He has to stay at Fort Benning this weekend but should be headed to Fort Stewart on Monday or Tuesday. After he processes in we should know more about his vacation !! I'll keep you posted! YAY!!!!

The Waiting Game

I wish I knew how to type out the song from the Jeopardy game when you are waiting to hear the final answer. That is how Drew and I feel!! We are hoping we will find out our duty station this week. As many of you know, I moved back to St. Louis on Friday to get a head start on packing. I am happy to be here but ready for Drew to be here too! After seeing how excited our dogs were to see me I can only imagine how they will be when they see Drew. This is definitely a new experience for me where you are packing and spending all this time preparing to go to an unknown destination. I have no idea how to picture our new house or where we will be living seeing as though we don't know where we will go! It is sooo exciting though!! We are so close!! I am going to make this post short because I am hoping I will have another post soon announcing our destination. Drew is basically hanging out anxiously awaiting our duty station. We are so close which makes it that much more exciting!! UGHHHH! That is honestly how we feel! We are prepared, excited, and ready to move anywhere. Just tell us where!! So stay tuned and hopefully it will be this week. In the meantime I still have the Jeopardy song stuck in my head... :)

Happy 4th!

This weekend Drew and I enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation. Drew arrived in Atlanta early on Friday morning and did not leave until this evening. It has been over a month since he was last at our condo so it was nice for him to be here. We enjoyed good dinners, watched multiple sets of fireworks from our balcony, spent time at the pool, and enjoyed fourth of July festivities in the park. Today for my birthday we went to the botanical garden which is in walking distance from our condo. It was really pretty! Here are a few pictures from that.

At this point it is just a waiting game until Drew gets his orders. We are hoping it will be this week or next week at the very latest. We will keep you posted as soon as we hear something! We are both excited to know where we will be living and to get leave while we move. We haven't lived together in over 1/2 a year which is crazy to think about. We cannot wait to live together again!
