Deer Hunting and Diapers

Well Drew has successfully found the balance between deer hunting and diapers. He is super helpful with Cole (hence the title with changing diapers) but also politely asks if he can sneak away to go hunting sometimes. And on Saturday morning his hard work paid off with his first GA buck! We were sooo excited. I was dying to be with him when he called with the news because it is sooo fun when we get one but I was just as thrilled when he brought him home to show me. I think I actually may be more excited about all the lean, fresh venison we have now instead of the actual hunt! I plan to go soon with Drew but it'll have to be an afternoon hunt. The sitter doesn't wake up when it is still dark out on the weekends. :) We are mounting this deer's antlers to put in the nursery. (Sorry non-hunting friends but have to put this picture on here.) It was neat too because Drew's brother Pete got a nice 8 point at the farm Saturday morning too. Can't wait until we can all hunt together again.

In other news, Cole is now 3 months old (as of yesterday). I can't believe the transformation we have witnessed. I can only imagine what is to come. It is unbelievable to see how quickly he is growing and learning. He now wears 3-6 month clothes, rolls over, picks things up, follows you across the room with his eyes, scoots on his back on his mat, smiles, laughs, tries to talk to you with baby noises... it's crazy. Drew got out his jumperoo this weekend to see if he was big enough for it and he absolutely is. He sits upright and bounces all around. It's crazy that not too long ago he couldn't hold his head up. He can't sit up all the way on his own yet but I have a feeling it is coming soon.

Loves those daddy kisses!

First Beach Trip

This past Sunday Drew and I took Cole to Jekyll Island for his first beach trip. It was 75 and sunny with no humidity so we couldn't resist. He loved it! It was so cute because he sat so calmly and happily in his little beach chair. We had dolphins surrounding us the entire time. I've never had them that close where you hear them breathing all around you. It was really neat but hurt our fishing chances.

And with the first game of the World Series tonight, I have to say Go Cards! We have been sporting our Cardinals gear in GA.

He doesn't always make it past the first or second inning but it's the thought that counts right? And hey, the games start an hour later Eastern Time!

Aunt Sarah & Uncle Wade

We are getting spoiled with all of these great family visits! Last Thursday night Aunt Sarah and Uncle Wade arrived. As I mentioned before, this was Sarah's second visit but this was Wade's first time meeting Cole. We had a blast. Drew and I always say how nice it is when Sarah is in town because she wants to do everything. She even loves changing dirty diapers! Such a big help and the best part is she loves doing it. We had a rough idea of what we wanted to do for the weekend but ended up doing completely different things. We went to two different parks and numerous restaurants/bars and had a great time. Such a great visit!!
Friday night we put Cole in his new green monster outfit from Sar and Wade... little did we know he would take it to heart and transform into a little monster. Friday night he was really fussy but we were able to get in a fun restaurant experience before we decided to head home at 7:30pm. We've learned to be flexible! Poor little guy was just tired and fell asleep as soon as we got in the car but I still think the outfit was a bad omen. :) Fortunately he is normally a happy baby so when he is fussy it stands out in my mind. Wade thought it was neat how Cole will sit and watch baseball or football with us. So cute.
Here's the monster outfit.

So happy they were here!

Happy to be at the park Saturday morning.

Drew had been wanting to go to this bar for awhile so we stopped by after the park. Drew and Wade love trying new beers.

Saturday night we took them to our favorite restaurant- Marker 107. It's off the beaten path near our house on the river. Love it!

They loved it as much as we do.

Sunday it was back down to Savannah.

And the biggest news of all: On Saturday Cole rolled over for the first time! He has been trying to ever since he was born and when he finally did he made it look easy. It was perfect timing too because we were all in the family room staring at him. He must have been waiting for the perfect audience.
Now back to reality but we'll of course always look forward to the next visit.

At the Range

I talk so much about Cole these days that I wanted to take a second to recognize that this blog title is still appropriate in that yes, Drew is still an Army soldier. Drew was out in the field last night meaning he spent the night at work to go to the range and do night fire. He took this neat picture of his guys before the sun went down. Pretty neat when your office looks like this.

October

Well October is here and it could not have started with better weather. It has been close to 90 here but on Saturday, 10/1 the weather changed with highs around 72 and lows in the fifties. So nice! Hopefully the fall-like weather is here to stay. October also means that it is back to work for me. I have been dreading the day I have to leave him since I was pregnant. I'm going to miss my little man but I can do it. I feel fortunate that I work from home, have an understanding boss, a flexible work schedule and our nanny/friend is right up the street. This week I'll only be taking him for a couple of hours each day so I can ease into it. Will still be rough though. The great news is we have a lot to look forward to this week because Aunt Sarah and Uncle Wade will be here Thursday night!! We are so excited for them to come! This will be Sarah's second trip to see Cole but Wade's first time. We can't wait!
