Getting Closer!

We are getting closer! We are so excited that Friday is already July. We're going to have this baby before we know it! Before we went to our doctor's appointment on Monday, I had a pretty good feeling that Baby H was sitting lower and that labor is getting closer. Sure enough the doctor confirmed that I have started to dilate and Baby H is sitting low and is ready to go. Now it could still be 1-3 weeks before he arrives but the doctor seems to think I will have him before my due date which is July 22nd. Drew and I are soooo ready to meet him so we welcome him anytime! He is full-term and healthy at this point so we're ready! It would make a great birthday present if he wanted to come on July 5th but we'll see. ;) We probably still have some time.
This past weekend Drew surprised me by getting me an early baby present. I guess the trendy term is 'push present' but I think it is neat that I'll have a ring forever that Drew gave me when he was born. He had scoped out a jewelry store in Hilton Head awhile back and surprised me by taking me in there on Saturday. He had an idea of what he was going to get me but then definitely decided when he saw this ring. I like to think there are three columns of diamonds to represent the three of us and our growing family. :) Right now it is getting sized but we are going to engrave it with his birthdate too. Drew is so thoughtful. Love that man. This isn't the best picture but you can kind of see it.

This weekend we also discovered a new restaurant (Sunbury Crab Co.) on the water near our house. We love the local little restaurants in our neighborhood sometimes even better than the Savannah restaurants. It was great food and a pretty setting on one of the tidal rivers. We had a really nice time.

I feel like my body has changed even since our date night on Saturday. We'll see what we end up doing this weekend but luckily Drew is totally patient and doesn't mind laying low. It's only a matter of time now!

Baby Prep Classes and Trips to Fort Benning

The past two Tuesday nights Drew and I have been going to our labor and delivery classes. It's a series of three classes taught by a nurse practitioner and a labor and delivery nurse where they teach you everything you want to know about delivering the baby. Some of the information I already know from books I've read but it's helpful to get information specific to how my doctor or the hospital will do things. This past Tuesday we got a tour of labor and delivery too which was really fun. Drew and I were impressed with how nice the rooms were. We of course had to hang back and take pictures to show our family. Clearly there is no hope in containing our excitement anymore if I am taking pictures of where we will be having the baby even though I am not having the baby yet. Oh well! We're excited to get to that point. I'm feeling good but am definitely feeling pregnant. I am ready to take off the pregnancy suit! Fortunately I have no major complaints, just excited!

Drew has been to Fort Benning (where he had basic training) the past two Fridays. It's about four hours from here. Last Friday he went to support some of his guys who were graduating from sniper school. Drew was supposed to go too but his hearing was bad in one ear when he got back from Iraq. He finally got it checked out and everything is now good to go but he didn't get medical clearance in time for this first school. He will be going to sniper school at some point after the baby is born. It was nice of him to make the trip to support his guys and I think he impressed his boss by requesting to go. This Friday he and four other guys went for a Remington class. For those that don't know, Remington is a gun dealer/maker and held a special certification class on bolt action rifles. Drew actually has a four day weekend for Father's Day so he was off today. You know he likes what he does if on his day off he wants to drive four hours to a class on guns. I am glad he likes what he does! He isn't back yet but I talked to him briefly and it sounds like it was well worth it.

That's it for now. This weekend we have a neighbor's 8th birthday party and Sunday we are having a BBQ with people from Drew's work. Tomorrow I am looking forward to a day at the beach. There is nothing like swimming when you are pregnant! It feels great. More to come soon. Happy Father's Day on Sunday!

GA Baby Shower and Memorial Day

Baby Harris is due next month! It is so nice to say that. Drew and I are getting so excited we just can't stand it. We are ready to meet him! Luckily these weeks have been going by quickly. Here is a '33 weeks' picture from last Friday. I am feeling quite large these days!

Memorial Day weekend we had a great time with our good friends Kyle (Drew's old roommate) and his wife Ellie. Kyle got back from Iraq in March so we were excited they made the trip down to see us. They are only about 3 1/2 hours away at Fort Bragg. We enjoyed a night out in Savannah and two days at the beach. I make a great sober driver. :) Really a nice visit! They brought down their two dogs too, one of which was a chocolate lab puppy. She and Mackie were buddies. :)

Yesterday, June 5th, I had another baby shower with the girls in the neighborhood at Rachel's house. It was so nice of them! The decorations were adorable. She had onesies, baby booties, diapers, and other little baby items hung from a rope with clothes pins all over the ceiling along with all kinds of decorations. She also made a diaper cake and had a real cake which was pretty tasty! Not to confuse the two of course. :)

Everyone was so generous with their gifts. Baby H is just about set with everything he needs.
Here is a pic from before I went to the shower. Looks like the same pic from my 33 weeks shot but oh well.

We have a couple of little things here and there to pick up but we are about ready. This weekend Drew spent time cleaning out the garage and the attic. We are definitely missing having a basement but down here we live too close to the water so houses don't have basements. He did a great job of making room for all of our baby things and getting organized. We have also been finding time to relax. We figure we have about 5 weekends left with just the two of us so we are trying to relax and enjoy it before Baby H arrives. Even though we would be thrilled if he was due tomorrow! We are so ready. Anyway, here is a pic of a new fishing spot we found on base. This is a little catfish that we caught. It's nuts because in the same hole there are two huge gators just hanging out. They leave you alone though.

And here is another great example of us relaxing. Drew got this tiny little baby pool for the dogs but we tend to get in it too. It feels great in the heat! We have a neighborhood pool too but this is for quick use. Nothing like keeping it classy! After I got out Mack decided to get in with Drew. And don't worry- we change the water and clean it after the dogs get in. :)

We're getting so close!
